100 Words on Twitter

(Actually, this is going to be 140 words on Twitter and Tweets, since the maximum characters in a Tweet is 140.)

Twitter: a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

With my first tweet, “I just signed up for Twitter. 1:52 AM Feb 15th from web”, I began my journey on Twitter. Deceptively simple, I’ve discovered its multilevel path for me.

First, is the ability to connect to others, those I know and those I don’t. We meet and connect through posting our tweets and reading and responding to each other’s tweets. Those who know me have started to worry when they don’t see at least one tweet a day from me.

Second, is the challenge of crafting a 140 character or less status statement: my creations proclaiming, “I tweet therefore I am.”

Third, is my attempt to stay contemporary, up-to-date and relevant by sticking my fingers into the social networking and media on the Internet and Blackberry---and coming away wondering if they use enough chlorine in this pool!
