My Heroes: Girls That Kick Some @#*&%!!!
For my final post on the theme of my TV heroes, I am paying tribute to my favorite female action heroes ... and they really know how to fight. Sure, women might be known as the "weaker sex" in real life, but you'd never know that watching these women on TV. That's because the medium of television gives these girls a competitive edge and a level playing field against the villians. Plus it is just plain fun to watch the girls get the upper hand for a change! So take a bow, ladies!
Sarah Connor, mother of John Connor, from Terminator, The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2007-2009) I am so sorry to see you go! This great show was canceled after two seasons; how unfair.
Claire Bennett from Heroes (2006- )Girl, you may have started out as "the cheerleader", but you have proved that you ARE a friend to all (even the geeks and freaks) and totally indestructible.
Max from James Cameron's Dark Angel (2000-2002). Even though you were genetically enhanced, it couldn't stop your show from being canceled after just two seasons...
Prudence, Piper, Pheobe and Paige Halliwell, sisters and witches from the series Charmed (1998-2006). It was nice to have eight years to spend with you, watching you keep evil at bay in San Francisco.
Mandy, you are one smart girl. You won a bet with the Grim Reaper and now he answers to you. Matching wits with Billy may not be much of a challenge, but the Grim Reapers friends and cohorts are another story! That's what makes watching The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (2001-2007) so entertaining.
Last, but not least, this post ends with a tribute to the original female action heroes on TV. They are, of course, The Bionic Woman (1976-1978) and Charlie's Angels (1976-1981).
