A Letter to My Dearest Companion and Friend #NHBPM

My dearest companion and friend,

I don't say this often enough...thank you for always doing your best for me.

You and me, we both have our faults and failings, but we are always there for each other no matter what.  A lot of bad things have happened to both of us and yet I have never, ever doubted that you were there fighting along side me, always wanting what was best for me.

At every turn you have always been life-affirming.  You have risen above and sought to connect with healing, peace and harmony.

Despite the very serious problems you have encountered, I have always believed that these things happened to you; you did not cause them or wish them upon yourself.  Even when I had doubts, you found a way to keep carrying on.  You managed to get past the problems and reach for something better.  Through all these trials, I learned you possessed strength, fortitude and stamina that I have come to both admire and rely upon.

Quite simply, you amaze me.

You and I both know this isn't a perfect world.  Bad things happen.  We've had more than our fair share of encounters with these bad things.  Yet through it all, my faith in you has remained rock solid, steadfast and unshaken.

I know we will continue together for as long as possible and I am glad it is with you that I share this adventure.

Thank you for being my eyes to see the beauty in the world and my ears to hear all its sweet music.  Thank you for all your gifts that allow me to experience this world and all it has to offer.  You have been there helping me create wonderful memories that will last through this lifetime and into the next.

Unfortunately everything is in the world comes to end and it will be no different for you and I.  On that day, amongst all the other things I may be feeling, I will have a profound gratitude for how you courageously carried me through this life.

What an amazing gift you give me each day, my friend, my body.

I love you.
